This catalog was created for the traveling exhibition I5OLATION, a portfolio of 50 drawings by 50 female sculptors during the Covid exhibition curated by Coral Lambert and Cynthia Handel in 2020. It will be printed in conjunction with the exhibition at ProjekTraum FN in Friedrichshafen, Germany, in May 2022.

Lambert, Coral

Coral Penelope Lambert is recognized for producing process based site-specific work and sculpture that combines her background as a formal steel sculptor with her passion for iron casting.

She achieved a B.F.A at Canterbury School of Art in 1989 and M.F.A at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1990. She received an

International Research Fellowship at the University of Minnesota from 1994-97.

She has shown internationally in 12 solo and 150+ group exhibitions. She is the Founding Director of USUK Iron Symposium 1997-2012. She Co-Founded New Orleans Sculpture Lab 2000- 2005 and Co-chaired the 5th International Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art in 2006 at the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge + Coalbrookdale. She has received 23 awards from Gottlieb Foundation, JeromeFellowship and Joan Mitchell to the International Sculpture Center's Outstanding Educator Award in 2022. Lambert is Professor of

Sculpture and Director of the National Casting Center Foundry at Alfred University, NY.


Handel, Cynthia

Cynthia is nationally and internationally known for her work in cast and fabricated metal. Her work has exhibited in China, Europe, Lativa, UK and Wales. Cynthia has performed at Pedvale Sculpture Park in "The Volcano – The Flight of the Phoenix", Latvia and Daniel Spoerri Sculpture Garden in Italy and "The Body Ferric" at Kidwelly Heritage Site, Wales and The Wedding: Music "Box Dancer" in Scranton PA. She has exhibited outdoor sculptures at Salem Art Works, Franconia

Sculpture Park in MN, Sculpture Trails in Cloverdale, CA and The Cheese Factory in Petaluma, CA

She graduated with an MFA from San Jose State University 1989. She has investigated sculpture and performance for the past 30 years. Her work combines fabricated steel, cast bronze and iron elements with silk,drawing, beeswax and fire. All of which are "poetic, graceful and intuitive much like a dance of the body".

Cynthia was an Assistant Professor at LSU and an Adjunct Professor at numerous universities in California. She has presented her work at The College Art Association, International Sculpture Conference and at several International Conferences on Contemporary Cast Iron Art. She has participated in artists residencies in Wales, England, CA, MN, WY, MT and NM. Cynthia maintains a studio in Montana.
